In 2019, in conjunction with PleaseTalk and A Healthy CIT, Da Silly Heads delivered a highly successful two-day event on campus, named Stigma is Silly. Over 130 volunteers took part in the impactful flashmob performance that kicked off the event, and 100s of students participated over the 2 days. The Echo and Irish Examiner picked up on our concept to showcase student's willingness to tackle mental health stigma. Our biggest attractions were practical strategies for wellness workshops, & couch chat format with Oisin McConville (former Armagh footballer), Valerie Mulcahy (All Ireland winner) & Eric O’Donovan (pro-boxer).
Additional elements of our event were centred around student struggle expression, comfort food and distribution of functional advocacy apparel. Also, our post event video reached over 10,000 people through our Facebook platform, giving the message and concept huge exposure within the region.
